Former Snooker Shoot Out champion Hossein Vafaei is among the players to qualify for the World Snooker Championship.

The Iranian narrowly missed out on an automatic place at the Crucible through his world ranking, but he will still compete in Sheffield courtesy of a 10-6 win over Jackson Page.

Three-time quarter-finalist Ryan Day also made it through to the last 32 courtesy of opponent Scott Donaldson having to withdraw from their match on medical grounds.

Joe Perry is another high-profile name to qualify courtesy of a 10-9 win over Mark Davis, but two-time runner-up Matthew Stevens missed out having lost 10-7 to David Gilbert.

Elliot Slessor will make his second appearance at the tournament after beating Zhou Yuelong by a 10-6 scoreline, while Jimmy Robertson posted a dominant 10-2 win over Andy Hamilton.

There were also triumphs for David Grace and Pang Junxu, who defeated Andrew Higginson and Si Xu by 10-5 scorelines.

On Tuesday, Matthew Selt, Fan Zhengyi, Si Jiahui, Jak Jones, Anthony McGill, Noppon Saengkham, Ricky Walden and Yize Wu made it through to the main stages. body check tags ::
