Former world number one squash player Nick Matthew believes that being honoured with an OBE is a "great sign" for his sport.
At the weekend, the 34-year-old was named among the Queen's Birthday Honours List, which also included former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard.
"It's incredibly special for me personally but it's also great to see squash recognised like this," Matthew said in a statement via his official website. "I think it's a really great sign for our sport.
"It's very humbling when you look at the other people on the list and you see how much they have achieved in different areas of life, especially all the people who have devoted their lives to helping others."
Matthew has won three World Championship titles and 33 World Tour crowns, as well as three British Open trophies.
