British swimmer Rebecca Adlington has claimed that she will not use Twitter during the Olympic Games for fear of negative comments from the public.
Adlington, who won two Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, has nearly 50,000 followers on the social networking site.
"I won't be checking it or going on it a lot during the Games," the 23-year-old told The Guardian.
"The messages of support are amazing but you do have the chance of someone saying something that is going to be annoying. You don't want that added stress. You don't want to be thinking about that. I think I will just tweet once it is over."
Adlington will be competing in the Mare Nostrum in Barcelona this weekend.
