Great British swimmer Chloe Waddell suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on Sunday morning.
The 16-year-old, who had been aiming to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, was found unconscious by her parents at her home in Timperley, Greater Manchester.
Despite attempts to revive her, Waddell was pronounced dead later on in hospital.
"At about 8.30am on February 3, 2013, police were called by the ambulance service who had attended a house on Bryons Drive in Timperley. Paramedics were there to treat a 16-year-old girl who had gone into cardiac arrest. She was taken to hospital but sadly died," said a police spokesman."
She was a member of Swim Trafford and Altrincham.
