British Swimming has informed UK Sport of its intention to appeal against the recent Olympic funding cuts to synchronised swimming and women's water polo.
UK Sport confirmed last week that it would be withdrawing budgets for a number of sports, including basketball and boxing.
"It's vital we have the opportunity to engage with UK Sport once again as we look to save these team sports from simply becoming a chapter in a history book rather than a lasting, Olympic legacy," British Swimming chief executive David Sparkes said in an official statement.
Weightlifting, beach volleyball and fencing are among the other sports to have been affected.
