Missy Franklin has made history at the FINA World Championships, becoming the first female swimmer to win six gold medals at the event.
The teenage sensation helped the United States women's team to victory in Sunday's 4x100m medley relay event to complete the feat.
Franklin was the joint holder of the previous record of five Championship golds with compatriot Tracy Caulkins and Australian Libby Trickett.
Kristin Otto of East Germany secured six golds in the pool at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, but the accomplishment had never been achieved before in the World Championships.
