Scotland's Michael Jamieson has suggested that he let his supporters down due to his inability to claim gold in the 200m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games.
Ross Murdoch produced a shock in the final to secure the title in impressive fashion, and Jamieson admitted that he found it difficult to deal with the disappointment of losing to his 20-year-old teammate.
"I really wanted to repay that faith and support of the people," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport. "It's only natural for your instant reaction to be like you felt you let people down."
"I'll take some time off and come back stronger. I have to."
Jamieson failed to reach the 100m breaststroke final after his disappointment over 200m.
