The gold medal-winning Portugal table tennis team have described their victory in the final over France as "very emotional".
The Portuguese trio of Joao Geraldo, Tiago Apolonia and Marcos Freitas defeated France 3-1 to claim gold yesterday.
Geraldo beat Adrien Mattenet in straight games to confirm the team's victory.
"It was fantastic, from the first to the last match. It was very emotional. I want to thank everyone who came to support us," he told reporters.
Apolonia said: "I think we have been one of the top teams for the past four or five years. By winning we showed everyone that we were not lucky to win."
Portugal also won team gold at the European Championships in 2014.
