Argentina's Juan Monaco has progressed to the second-round of Olympic men's singles thanks to a straight-sets victory over David Goffin of Belgium.
After Monaco held in the opening game, both men looked uneasy on serve as the following four games were all breaks of serve.
With the set still on serve at 4-5, Goffin cracked, offering his opponent two chances to take the set and Monaco took the second to claim the opener.
The second set was much simpler for the ninth seed, as he broke the Belgian's serve twice before holding to-love to take the second 6-1 and book his place in the last 32.
The ninth seed faces a second-round match against either Dmitry Tursunov of Russia or Spain's Feliciano Lopez.
