British number one Cameron Norrie booked his place in the semi-finals of the Mexican Open with a comfortable 6-1 6-0 victory over Peter Gojowczyk of Germany.

After seeing off Gojowczyk's compatriot Daniel Altmaier in round one before a three-set win over John Isner of the USA, Norrie gave very little away in his quarter-final.

While his counterpart missed five opportunities to break throughout the contest, the Brit brought it back to deuce on the Gojowczyk serve at 5-0 in the second set and hit a magnificent down-the-line shot to complete the job in one hour 11 minutes.

Norrie must now pit his wits against Australian Open semi-finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas for a spot in the showpiece event, where another one of the big boys will await the victor.

Should the Indian Wells Masters champion advance to the final, either world number one Daniil Medvedev or Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal will stand in his way of a fourth ATP singles title. body check tags ::
