Aljaz Bedene has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of next week's Australian Open after withdrawing during the final set of his opening match at the ASB Classic.
The British number two shared two tie-break sets with Sam Querrey in Auckland before being forced to retire from the contest at 2-1 down in the decider.
It is yet to be revealed what caused the the 26-year-old to end his participation in the match, but he did require treatment during the closing stages of his exhausting Chennai Open semi-final with Borna Coric on Saturday, which lasted almost three hours.
If able to compete, Bedene will be aiming to win his first match at the Grand Slam event in Melbourne after losing in the opening round in each of the last three years.
