Liam Broady believes that he needs to improve his 'B' game after he suffered defeat at the hands of Michael Russell in the final qualifying round for the Australian Open.
The British number four succumbed 7-5 6-3 to Russell, a player 15 years his senior, but despite enjoying his first showing in Melbourne, the left-hander has acknowledged that he needs to become more consistent if he is to compete on the ATP Tour.
The 21-year-old told BBC Sport: "I just lost a bit of rhythm and he's a very smart, very experienced player, and it showed today.
"When I play 8/10 at this level, it's good enough, but my 6/10 isn't good enough yet and that's what needs to improve.
"It's been a fantastic trip. It obviously exceed expectations of probably most people apart from my own little group."
British compatriot Kyle Edmund came through a titanic tussle with Australian Dane Propoggia to earn his place in the main draw.
