Dominic Inglot: 'We had to be aggressive to overcome Bryan brothers'

Dominic Inglot says that he and partner Florin Mergea 'remained aggressive and pushed hard' in order to overcome Mike and Bob Bryan at the Australian Open.

Dominic Inglot has revealed that the key to knocking the illustrious Bryan brothers out of the men's doubles at the Australian Open was down to being "aggressive" on the court.

Top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan, who have more than 900 career wins and 100 titles to their name, were defeated in straight sets by British pro Inglot and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea.

"As a player the Bryans are the one team who you don't want to be near in the draw, you don't really want to play them," Inglot is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

"They know how to put pressure on and you have always got to beat them. You have got to be aggressive and push hard against them, and that's what we did.

"If you leave the door ajar they will push through. Our coach is very thorough and we were well prepared. Bob and Mike have certain places they like to return and we weren't going to give them what is their bread and butter."

Elsewhere, Jamie Murray and partner John Peers were eliminated from the Grand Slam event having let a one-set lead slip through their grasp as they fell to fourth seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo.
