Third seed Rafael Nadal admits that he felt tired and suffered from cramps during his five-set win over America's Tim Smyczek.

Rafael Nadal has admitted that he felt "very tired" during his five-sets win over Tim Smyczek in the second round at the Australian Open this afternoon.

The world number three came from 2-1 down to win 6-2 3-6 6-7 6-3 7-5, setting up a third-round meeting with Dudi Sela.

Speaking on court at the end of the match, the Spaniard said: "I felt very tired after the first set and in the whole match. It was a very tough night for me. I tried to be with my best attitude and the fantastic crowd helped me.

"I don't know what's going on, I felt like I started have have some cramps around the body. It's not normal after one hour for that to happen. Just accept the situation and try to fight for every point."

Nadal, who won the tournament in 2009, needed treatment from the doctor and trainer in order to complete the match.
