Italian underdog Andreas Seppi says that he just tried to enjoy his game as he knocked Roger Federer out of the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Underdog Andreas Seppi has said that he "just tried enjoying playing on centre court" as he sent Australian Open favourite Roger Federer tumbling out of the tournament.

The Italian beat the experienced Federer with a 6-4 7-6 4-6 7-6 victory at the Rod Laver Arena in the third round of the competition in Melbourne.

"I just tried to enjoy playing on centre court because it's not often I get the chance," said Seppi, according to BBC Sport.

"I was focusing on my service games as I was not getting many chances on his.

"The tie-break was great, especially the last point. I did not think I would get the ball. I thought it was a winner so I don't know how I hit a winner."

Seppi is now due to face either Nick Kyrgios or Malek Jaziri in the fourth round.
