Bernard Tomic has conceded that he will have to play at his absolute best to have a chance of beating Tomas Berdych in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The 22-year-old defeated Aussie compatriot Sam Groth in the third round to set up the match against the number seven seed, who has beaten Tomic in their two previous meetings.

He told reporters: "We played twice before. He's a very, very good player. He's been at the top for many years. I have to come to this match to play my tennis. Then I have a chance."

Tomic plays Berdych for a place in the quarter-finals of the Melbourne major on Sunday morning.
