Virginia Wade has claimed that she expects Grigor Dimitrov to make further improvements to his game after the Bulgarian was knocked out of the Australian Open.

Dimitrov was beaten in four sets by Andy Murray in the fourth round on Sunday, but Wade believes that the 23-year-old has what it takes to close the gap on the Scot in the future.

"Andy is the slightly more mature player and that again showed on court, though I was more impressed with the Bulgarian this time around," the three-time Grand Slam singles winner claimed on Eurosport.

"I have to say that I've always thought that Grigor in the past has been a little too much icing and not enough cake, but he really came of age in this match, he really impressed me.

"Even though he lost, the next time he plays Andy he'll have a much better idea of how to play him and he could beat him."

Murray's win means that he will meet home favourite Nick Kyrgios in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
