Tomas Berdych reaches his third consecutive Australian Open quarter-final by defeating South Africa's Kevin Anderson in straight sets.

Fifth seed Tomas Berdych overcame South Africa's Kevin Anderson in straight sets on Sunday to progress to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.

The Czech-born 27-year-old, who will now face either Novak Djokovic or Stanislas Wawrinka, won 6-3 6-2 7-6 in 164 minutes on Margaret Court Arena.

Berdych won 34 of 54 points in the opening set, breaking to love twice in the process.

He then broke Anderson's serve again in the first game of the second set, which he won convincingly.
