Dan Evans has been eliminated from the Australian Open at the first-round stage after he suffered a heavy defeat to Feliciano Lopez.
The British number five came through qualifying to earn a chance to compete in the main draw in Melbourne for the first time, but he was only able to win five games against the 18th seed.
Evans got on the board at the start of the contest, but he was no match for the big-serving left-hander, who dropped just three points behind his first serve during the 88-minute clash.
Lopez wrapped up the opening two sets in just 49 minutes, and although Evans improved during the third, he could not stop the Spaniard from prevailing by a 6-1 6-0 6-4 scoreline.
