Andy Murray has earned a place in the second round of the Australian Open with a comfortable win over Alexander Zverev.
The second seed - a four-time finalist in Melbourne - required two hours and seven minutes to register a 6-1 6-2 6-3 victoryagainst the German teenager.
Zverev arguably deserved more than the six games that he claimed against the British number one, with six break points being squandered on the Margaret Court Arena, but Murray looked impressive in what was his first ATP Tour match of the year.
He benefited from 43 unforced errors from his opponent but he will be pleased with a performance that included six breaks of serve and just eight points being dropped behind his own delivery.
On Thursday, Murray will face Australia's Sam Groth in the last 64.
