Yanina Wickmayer overcame Jarmila Gajdosova and a vocal home crowd to claim an impressive straight-sets win on day two of the Australian Open.
The 20th seed wasted no time in establishing an advantage in the Rod Laver Arena, winning the first set 6-1 in just 27 minutes.
Gajdosova was much improved in the second, fighting for every point to stay alive with a series of forehand winners.
Despite securing a break to lead 5-3, Gajdosova could not maintain her aggressive style and succumbed to Wickmayer's baseline assault, losing four straight games and in turn the match.
Wickmayer silenced a packed Melbourne crowd to seal a second-round clash with Jane Cepelova later this week.
