Tomas Berdych has earned a spot in the third round of the Cincinnati Masters after beating Thomaz Bellucci 6-2 6-3.
The sixth seed dominated from the first exchange and was soon in charge of the match when he secured a break of serve in the second game.
Bellucci showed his resilient side by saving three break points, but any hopes of staying alive in the opener were dashed when Berdych broke once again to wrap up the set.
It could have been an even more emphatic triumph for Berdych, who wasted two match points at 5-0 as Bellucci fought to extend the match.
Despite losing his own serve in the next game, Berdych had simply delayed the inevitable as he served out comfortably to secure his progress.
