Sara Errani has made it through to round three of the Cincinnati Open thanks to a tough three-set victory against world number 101 Polona Hercog.
The Italian world number six closed out the opening set 6-4, but Slovenian Hercog fought back to clinch the second 7-5.
With both players struggling to hold serve, it was Errani who went on to seal the win 6-4 with two hours on the clock.
She will now meet either her doubles partner Roberta Vinci or Germany's Andrea Petkovic for a place in the next round.
