Kei Nishikori has advanced to the next round of the Cincinnati Open with a 6-1 6-2 victory over Spaniard Marcel Granollers-Pujol.
It was the Japanese who took control of the match in the early stages with a break of serve in the second game to move 2-0 ahead. He broke once more at 1-4 to serve for the opening set.
The second followed a similar pattern, with Nishikori twice breaking serve to claim the second set 6-2 in just under 30 minutes.
Nishikori is currently ranked at number 18 in the world.
