World number three Roger Federer has confirmed that he will represent Switzerland in their opening round Davis Cup tie against the United States of America in February.
It will be the first time that the 30-year-old has featured in a round one match since 2004, when the Swiss defeated Romania 3-2.
"I am delighted to play against the United States," said Federer. "Especially since we are at home and can compete with the generous support of our fans.
"We had a great [2011] with the meetings in Bern and Sydney and the atmosphere and team spirit in our team was tremendously good."
The nations last met in 2001.
