Jamie Murray believes that his brother Andy Murray will bounce back from his early US Open exit in time for Great Britain's upcoming Davis Cup semi-final.

Jamie Murray has backed his brother Andy Murray to recover from his US Open disappointment in time for next week's Davis Cup semi-final against Australia.

Andy was dumped out in the fourth round at Flushing Meadows on Monday as Kevin Anderson won in four sets to consign the Scot to his earliest Grand Slam exit since 2010.

The world number three will now turn his attention to a rare Davis Cup semi for Great Britain, and Jamie is confident that he can put his American troubles behind him in time for next week's clash with Australia in Glasgow.

"I guess the positive of losing, if you like, is that he gets more time to rest and recover and get ready for Davis Cup," Jamie told reporters.

"I'm sure he's pretty excited to go back and join up with the team and play for the country again.

"He's always seemed to love it. It's a huge tie for us coming up. I'm sure all his focus will turn to that pretty soon."

Jamie is still in action at the US Open having reached the men's doubles semi-finals alongside Australian partner John Peers.
