France's Richard Gasquet has reached the second round of the men's singles at the Olympics with a two-set victory over Robin Haase of the Netherlands.
Gasquet, seeded 16 at the Games, broke serve in the fourth game of the match on Court 15 at Wimbledon before recording a 6-3 success in exactly half an hour.
The second set began differently, with Haase holding to-love in the first game before Gasquet saved two break points in the next to level the set.
He then made the vital breakthrough in game eight to take a 5-3 lead before closing out the match in the next.
The Frenchman will battle with either Go Soeda of Japan of Cyprus's Marcos Baghdatis for a place in round three of the Games.
