Rafael Nadal has admitted that his victory over Roger Federer in this afternoon's Rome Masters final was an emotional one.
The Spaniard came through 6-1 6-3 to win his sixth trophy of the year after spending much of last year injured.
"It's a very important day," said Nadal. "A very happy day for me after a difficult year last year.
"I am just enjoying the moment and valuing it more than ever because I know where we were just a few months ago.
"It is really emotional for me to win a tournament with such a long history as Rome. See you next year."
Nadal's next big tournament will be the French Open later this month.
