Eugenie Bouchard has crashed out of the French Open in the first round with a straight-sets defeat to Kristina Mladenovic.
Both players dropped serve at the start of the opening set before sixth seed Bouchard saved three break points as home favourite Mladenovic threatened.
However, Bouchard's resistance did not last much longer as Mladenovic went on to claim the set 6-4.
The French world number 44 took advantage of an out-of-sorts Bouchard in the second, opening up a 5-0 lead. Bouchard dug in to win the next three games, but she failed to stop Mladenovic closing out the contest 6-4 6-4.
