British number four Dan Cox has failed to qualify for the main draw of the French Open.
Cox had progressed through two matches to move through to a clash with Italy's Paolo Lorenzi, with the winner earning a spot among the world's elite at Roland Garros.
However, Cox, who is placed 222nd in the world rankings, soon fell behind to the number one seed, losing the opening set 6-3.
The 23-year-old went a break up in the second, but Lorenzi fought back to take the set on a tie-break.
