Home favourite Richard Gasquet is into the second round of the French Open following a 6-3 6-4 7-6 win over Jurgen Zopp.
The Béziers-born Frenchman broke at the midway point of the first set to take a 4-2 advantage.
Two consecutive holds saw him wrap up the opener in fairly comfortable fashion against an opponent ranked just outside the world's top 100.
The contest went with serve in the second until Gasquet, who survived several scares on his own serve, again edged in front with a decisive break to make it 5-4.
The former Wimbledon semi-finalist again held his nerve to serve out before he was pushed to his limit in the third set as Zopp forced him to a tie-break.
To the delight of the Roland Garros crowd, Gasquet was able to triumph 7-4 in the breaker to advance into the second round with a routine victory.
