Ana Ivanovic kept her hopes of winning a second French Open title alive this afternoon by recording a 6-3 6-2 victory over Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals.
World number nine Ivanovic, who triumphed at Roland Garros back in 2008, started the contest in positive form as she broke her Ukrainian opponent at the first of time asking to take a 2-0 lead.
Another break followed in the fourth game, which resulted in Ivanovic opening up a one-set advantage in just 40 minutes.
The Serb's domination of proceedings continued in the second set, with another double break following, before she served out to secure her spot in the semi-finals in front of her watching boyfriend Bastian Schweinsteiger, the Bayern Munich midfielder.
Standing between Ivanovic and a place in the final at Paris will be either Garbine Muguruza or Lucie Safarova.
Ivanovic, 27, has not reached the last four of a Grand Slam event since she won the title in France seven years ago.
