Maria Sharapova has made it safely through to the second round of the French Open with a convincing win over fellow Russian Ksenia Pervak.
The world number eight, who won the tournament back in 2012, proved too much for her opponent during the opening set as she opened up a commanding 4-1 lead before closing it out 6-1.
It was more of the same in the second, with two breaks allowing the seventh seed to serve out the one-sided contest 6-2 after an hour.
Sharapova will now take on Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova for a place in the third round at Roland Garros.
