Heather Watson has reached the second round of the French Open thanks to a straight-sets victory over Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova.
Watson started the contest positively and was rewarded with an early break before the Czech broke back. However, a second break for Watson allowed the Brit to serve it out 6-3.
Both players exchanged breaks early in the second, but the 22-year-old broke again before holding her nerve to progress 6-3 6-4.
Watson's reward for beating Zahlavova-Strycova is an encounter with Romanian fourth seed Simona Halep.
Halep eased into the second round earlier on Tuesday with a 6-0 6-2 rout of Alisa Kleybanova.
