Mikhail Youzhny advanced through to round four of the French Open thanks to a 6-4 6-3 6-3 victory over Janko Tipsarevic this afternoon.
World number 26 Youzhny had been regarded as the underdog heading into this clash, but an early break of the Tipsarevic serve allowed him to claim the opening set in 42 minutes.
Tipsarevic continued to produce unforced errors during the second set and he again surrendered his serve, which saw Moscow-born Youzhny move to within one set of victory.
He went on to secure his passage through to the last 16 at Roland Garros with two breaks of serve in the third set.
The 30-year-old will now take on either Tommy Haas or John Isner for a place in the quarter-finals.
