Former world number one Novak Djokovic is in the hat for the Indian Wells Masters draw despite his COVID-19 vaccination stance.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion was expected to sit out the ATP 1000 event due to his unvaccinated status, which led to his deportation from Australia before the Australian Open earlier this year.
US rules state that all arrivals into the country must have received a vaccine, and while Djokovic is on the entry list, the tournament's organisers are unsure if he will be able to compete.
A statement read: "Novak Djokovic is on the tournament entry list, and therefore is placed into the draw. We are currently in communication with his team.
"However, it has not been determined if he will participate in the event by getting CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) approval to enter the country. We will provide updates in the future as we learn more."
Djokovic has won the Indian Wells Masters on five occasions - most recently defeating Milos Raonic in the 2016 final, which represented his third successive triumph in the tournament. body check tags ::
