Tomas Berdych has booked his place in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Sergiy Stakhovsky.
The ninth seed won five games in a row, and broke Stakhovsky's serve twice to win the opener.
Stakhovsky put up a better fight in the second set, breaking back to level the score at 4-4 after losing on his serve in game five, but Berdych broke again in the ninth and served out the final game to love.
Berdych will play American Steve Johnson in round three.
