Tomas Berdych has advanced into the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Open after defeating Andy Roddick 6-3 4-6 6-2 in California.
The Czech took advantage in the opening set after Roddick found himself in a war of words with the umpire.
The dispute came about after the official failed to recognise the American's call for a challenge, which infuriated the distracted 29-year-old and led to his demise in the first set.
Despite an early setback, Roddick managed to compose himself and dominate the second set to equalise in California.
In the third and final set, Berdych resumed his form and comfortably snatched victory to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
The Czech pro will take on Nicolas Almagro for a place in the semi-finals.
