Elina Svitolina has beaten Lucie Safarova 7-6 7-5 to progress to the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.
Both players broke serve once in the first set, with Svitolina winning the tie-break seven points to five.
Svitolina then punished Safarova's second serve in the second set, breaking twice early to take a 4-1 lead. Safarova pulled the score back to 6-5 but was broken again in the final game.
The Ukrainian will play either Timea Bacsinszky or Ekaterina Makarova in the fourth round.
