Sara Errani has claimed a place in the final of the Italian Open in Rome, beating Serbia's Jelena Jankovic 6-3 7-5 this afternoon.
The Italian secured an early break against the former world number one, who struggled with her serve in the first set.
Errani could have won the first set by a greater margin, but Jankovic was able to save nine break points, although she could not get the set back on level terms.
It looked like the sixth seed was in control early in the second when she raced to a 4-1 lead, but Errani won four in a row to leave herself serving for the match.
Jankovic broke to keep the tie alive, but made too many mistakes in the next game to give the Italian the lead again, and this time she was able to wrap up the match.
Errani will face either Serena Williams or Ana Ivanovic in tomorrow's final.
