David Ferrer has breezed into the fourth round of the Italian Open with a straight-sets victory over Ernests Gulbis.
The Spaniard was victorious with a routine 6-2 6-3 win against his opponent to move into the last eight, where he could meet either Novak Djokovic or Philipp Kohlschreiber who meet later this evening.
Ferrer raced into a 4-0 lead in the first before Gulbis eventually got on the scoreboard, but the 32-year-old's class was too much, and he wrapped the first set up in 40 minutes.
The second was even shorter with Ferrer dispatching of the Latvian in just over half an hour, and the win marked the second victory in less than a week against Gulbis, following his triumph at the Madrid Open on May 9.
