Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live text commentary from day five of the Olympic tennis at Wimbledon.
There's a host of big names in third round singles action this afternoon, but it's also a significant day for the sport because mixed doubles returns to the Games for the first time since 1924.
The last duo to win that competition were Hazel Wightman and Richard Williams of the USA and there will be plenty of other pairings looking to write their names into Olympic history this time around.
Please note that play is scheduled to start at 11.30am.
21.35Right, that's all from us tonight. We'll be back from 11am tomorrow as we enter the quarter-final stage. We'll also have doubles action, including the mixed doubles matches that were unable to be played today. One of those was Murray/Robson vs/ Hradecka/Stepanek so there's yet more British interest to come. Anyway, we hope that yuo've enjoyed our coverage today and we hope to see you tomorrow. Good night!
21.33Ferrer vs. Isner
Nishikori vs. Del Potro
Almagro vs. Murray
Tsonga vs. Djokovic
Nishikori vs. Del Potro
Almagro vs. Murray
Tsonga vs. Djokovic
21.32Here's that quarter-final lineup in full for you...
21.27No sooner had the crowd file in that they have to make their way out. Bizarre stuff really and I'm sure Ferrer will be very disappointed with that outcome. Meanwhile, Nishikori will take on Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter-finals.
21.25Would you believe it? The match is over instantly as Ferrer has an absolute nightmare to get broken. He walks straight off and, in what can only be described as an anti-climax, is that.
21.24GAME, SET AND MATCH! Ferrer 0-6 6-3 4-6 Nishikori
21.21Here we go then, Ferrer to serve at 4-5 in this deciding set...
21.16The two men are enjoying a brief warm-up in front of a sparse but dedicated Centre Court crowd.
21.13To be fair, the fans inside Centre Court are having a blast. And here come the players to great applause. Will Nishikori seize the opportunity quickly and break? Ferrer, who is guaranteed to be as pesky as ever, will hope not.
21.11And we have a Mexican wave!
21.11Taking off my neutral hat for a moment, I hope someone breaks quickly. This writer doesn't need an 11pm finish.
21.05Okay then, the fans have been shepherded into Centre Court and we're just waiting for the players to emerge.
20.56The referee has spoken and in a thrilling twist the match will be moved to Centre Court. Play won't start staight away because the roof needs to be deployed and the air needs to be sorted so that means we'll be breaking for five minutes. Don't go away, we'll be back soon.
20.53Annother gruelling game there but Nishikori eventually holds. The two men are digging deep here. Oh, and there's the referee skulking about. What's he doing here?...
20.49GAME, SET AND MATCH! Paes/Vardhan 6-7[3] 6-4 3-6 Tsonga/Llodra
20.47There's huge noise coming from Court 18 as Tsonga/Llodra take on Paes/Vardhan in the men's doubles. It looks like that one might be coming to a close so we'll bring you the result when it ends.
20.46That was an incredible game and it took a slip by Nishikori to capitalise with a powerful forehand to hold at 4-4.
20.45UPDATE: Peng/Zheng vs. Kirilenko in the quarter-finals of the women's doubles is postponed until tomorrow due to bad light. The Russians took the first set 3-3 while it was on serve at 3-3 in the second.
20.42But he can't take it. Instead, Ferrer wins the next two points and is close to holding.
20.41The Spaniard is struggling to close this one out. Nishikori brings up a break point...
20.39It's swinging one way and the other in this one. Ferrer has a chance to hold but hits long and it's deuce.
20.37A chance for Nishikori now as Ferrer hits long. It's 30-30.
20.33Nishikori, with plenty of support in the stands, forces the error from Ferrer to hold.
20.31The cameraman keeps focusing on who I think is a crossdresser in the crowd. Anyway, Ferrer holds to love AGAIN to make it 3-3.
20.29A reminder that the winner of this one takes on Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter-finals. Ferrer might well fancy that one after he beat him convincingly in three sets at Wimbledon last month. But first he's got his hands full here with Nishikori...
20.27These two are wasting no time here, hammering through their service games as Nishikori holds to love for 3-2.
20.25Ferrer holds to love and it's 2-2.
20.23Of course at this point light becomes an issue. It's getting all dusky at SW19. Nishikori holds to take a 2-1 lead.
20.20Swiftly moving on we're heading to the outside courts where Spain's fourth seed David Ferrer is taking on Japanese 15th seed Kei Nishikori. Ferrer was hammered 6-0 in the opening set but came back to take the second 6-3. It's on serve in the third with Nishikori serving at 1-1.
20.16There it is! What an incredible match and it's ended with a Sharapova ace. Some outstanding tennis played by both women for the whole two hours forty-seven minutes and Lisicki walks off with her opponent in a superb display of sportsmanship. That can't be an easy pill for the German to swallow but she can hold her head high. Meanwhile, Sharapova is through to the quarter-finals where she will play Kim Clijsters. A gold medal for the Russian at these Games and she will become only the fourth player ever to achieve the Career Golden Slam (all four Slams plus a gold medal).
20.12GAME, SET AND MATCH! Sharapova 6-7[8] 6-4 6-3 Lisicki
20.11SET! Paes/Vardhan 6-7[3] 6-4 Tsonga/Llodra
20.10GAME, SET ANC MATCH! Azarenka/Mirnyi 6-2 6-2 Kerber/Petzschner
20.10BREAK! Sharapova has the break! Lisicki whacks a forehand wide and the Russian will serve for the match. What drama on Court 1!
20.09SET! Ferrer 0-6 6-3 Nishikori
20.08GAME, SET AND MATCH! Arvidsson/Lindstedt 3-6 6-4 8-10 Vinci/Bracciali
20.07GAME, SET AND MATCH! Dulko/Djokovic 6-3 7-5 Vesnina/Youzhny
20.06SET! Peng/Zheng 5-7 Kirilenko/Petrova
20.05Sharapova launches a stinging forehand right onto the line. Lisick looks like she wants to challenge but quickly withdraws here gesture. It's now 4-3 Sharapova.
20.04Of course there's no tie-break in the third set, but will the light last for a result this evening?
20.03Sharapova was given the sniff of a break there but Lisicki manages to hold. Speculation mounting that the German is waning but I can't see any of that at the moment.
20.00By the way, Wozniacki's win means that she'll be facing Serena Williams in the quarter-finals. Yet another tantalising contest at these Olympics.
19.59A real statement of intent from Sharapova there, holding to love in emphatic fashion. The Russian goes 3-2 in front.
19.58GAME, SET AND MATCH! Wozniacki 6-4 6-2 Hantuchova
19.55It goes on as Lisicki holds to make it 2-2. There's some heavy hitting going on from the baseline from the two women. It's attritional stuff.
19.51However, Sharapova recovers to hold and now leads 2-1 in this nervy final set. Riveting stuff.
19.50It's deuce on the Sharapova serve following a thunderbolt of a return from Lisicki. Both players still giving absolutely everything out there.
19.47GAME, SET AND MATCH! Raymond/M Bryan 7-5 6-3 Errani/Seppi
19.45American John Isner, who knows a thing or two about epic matches, comes through the second set 16-14 against Janko Tipsarevic and will face Roger Federer in the quarter-finals. Could be an interesting one.
19.44GAME, SET AND MATCH! Isner 7-5 7-6[14] Tipsarevic
19.43BREAK! Lisicki hits long and Sharapova screams to the heavens as she breaks back instantly. To her credit, Lisicki is smiling because she, like the rest of us, are just wondering where it'll all end.
19.42Lisicki double faults and it's at deuce. You just cannot tell which way this is going. Now Sharapova brings up the break point!
19.37BREAK! That was a real doozy of a game and Lisicki turns it around to come out on top. The German takes control.
19.32The German is back out and we're about to get underway in this decider. Sharapova to serve.
19.28Lisicki walks off the court for presumably a 'comfort' break.
19.27SET! We're heading for a third set! Lisicki double faults and Sharapova breaks to love. There were more twists and turns in that set than I care to remember but the Russian comes out on top 6-4.
19.25Lisicki serving to stay in this second set now.
19.24The Russian is pumping her fist after she finally secures the hold. Lisicki is making life so difficult for the third seed but she's hanging in there.
19.21Again Sharapova is 40-0 but can't close it out. Lisicki is battling hard from the baseline and it's deuce.
19.17BREAK! Just wonderful. Another thrilling rally comes to and end as Lisicki slices the ball into the net. Sharapova breaks back and makes it 4-4.
19.15It's another double fault and Sharapova has a break-back point...
19.15Lisicki is now feeling some of the heat as she double faults to make it deuce. Tense times on Court 1...
19.11BREAK! Oh my days. Sharapova hits THREE double faults and Lisicki has the break to lead 4-3. How crucial could that be?!
19.10We're just hearing that the Murray/Robson vs. Hradecka/Stepanek mixed doubles match will be held tomorrow.
19.07Lisicki is still as cool as ice out there. She holds once more and it's 3-3. This really is a battle of wits.
19.04Lisicki is obviously feeling the cold out there as she changes into a long-sleeved top.
19.02However, the third seed does well to recover as an ace sees her hold. Sharapova leads 3-2.
19.01Now then. Sharapova was 40-0 but three unforced errors takes it to deuce. Sloppy from the Russian.
18.57And Lisicki manages to hold serve. She kept her nerve there and it's now 2-2 in this second set.
18.56Sharapova brings up a match point but then squanders it with a long forehand. This looks to be an increasingly-important game for both women.
18.54I'm am partial to the tennis talents of Sabine Lisicki (diplomatic enough for you?). Anyway, it's at deuce on the Germans serve...
18.51Okey doke, time for a well earned rest for me. I'm handing over to Jack Prescott (another big Lisicki fan, eh?) for the rest of the evening. Enjoy...
Lisicki 7-6[8] *1-2 Sharapova"Game Sharapova" as Lisicki nets a forehand return at 40-15. It's just calmed down a little after that explosive tie-break. Should bubble again nicely as we progress in the set, mind.
Lisicki 7-6[8] 1-1* SharapovaThat'll do for our girl Sabine as she holds with ease in a game that included another miraculous pass as Sharapova battered a forehand.
Lisicki 7-6[8] *0-1 SharapovaGood way to start the set from Sharapova as she holds to-15 with a winning forehand down-the-line.
18.40SET! Isner has just taken the first set 7-5 against Tipsarevic on No. 2, while Daniela Hantuchova (my all-time favourite looking tennis babe, give her a Google) is up against Caroline Wozniacki on Centre. Just starting over there.
18.40Ok, after all that excitement let's just recap on what's going on elsewhere.
18.38BBC Sport's Tracy Austin says she can't remember a more hotly-contested set in recent times and I have to agree, from the little I saw. Lisicki's return is deep and Sharapova can only drag her backhand wide of the mark. Advantage Germany.
18.37Second serve...
18.37Lisicki now with a bold second serve to give her a fourth chance of taking the set (one in this breaker, two beforehand earlier in the set.)
18.36Lisicki is producing some amazing defence here, the set looks to be going to Sharapova but she nets after the German worked her way into the rally. This is the best women's tennis I've seen in a long, long time.
18.35That's a huge second serve from Sharapova to bring up her third set point.
18.34Lisicki can't take her chance of set point as she nets a return.
18.33Amazing from Lisicki! She presents Shara with a second serve, the Russian blasts a forehand that Lisicki floats back before she pulls off a remarkable backhand pass after another rocket Sharapova forehand.
18.33It's really windy here on No. 1.
18.32Brilliant from Lisicki to save that. We're at 6-6 and Sharapova's either seems to have forgotten it's a change of ends or she's just taking a couple of moments to recompose herself.
18.31Sharapova's just wasted a set point on her own serve. Now has one on the Lisicki serve at 6-5.
18.28Lisicki wins both those points though and we're back on serve at 4-3 Shara.
18.26Sharapova has broken the Lisicki serve twice in this breaker and now has two serves of her own at 4-1.
18.24GAME, SET AND MATCH! The defending men's doubles gold medallists are out! Erlich and Ram of Israel pull off an impressive fight back after losing the first set 6-1 by winning the next two 7-6[5] 6-3.
Lisicki 6-6(0-0) SharapovaWe're now into a tie-break as Sharapova manages to hold.
18.20The action is far from over for us here though. We're next turning our focus to Lisicki vs. Sharapova, where the German has just missed out on a set point. It's deuce at 6-5 to Lisicki.
18.16Next up for Muzza is the Spanish 11th seed Nicolas Almagro.
18.15The British number one is delighted and does a strange jerky victory fist pump after swatting away a forehand winner.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 4-6 MurrayGAME, SET AND MATCH!
18.14Match point Murray at 40-30...
18.12Baghdatis with a sniff at 15-30.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 4-5* MurrayBaghdatis does what he has to do by holding serve and forcing Murray to serve it out.
18.09Just getting underway on No. 2 Court is the men's third-round match between big-serving American John Isner and Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic. Updates will follow.
18.06BREAK! Here's an interesting one. Defending men's doubles gold medallists Federer and Wawrinka are 4-1 down in the third and final set against Erlich and Ram.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 *3-5 MurrayDelicious forehand pass on-the-run from Murray sees the Scot move within a game of victory.
18.02Quick update from the Lisicki-Sharapova match on No. 1, they're on serve with the German just ahead 4-3.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 3-4* MurrayBaghdatis is just holding onto his serve here. Murray pushes the Cypriot at deuce but the 27-year-old shows bullish resolve in holding.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 *2-4 MurrayBaghdatis won't be getting back into it any time soon though if Murray keeps this serving up. He aces at 40-0 to complete an impressive hold.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 2-3* MurrayBaghdatis does well to come through that game after it looked early on that Murray would perhaps break again. The Cypriot is still in touch here.
17.50SET! The Israelis have ousted Federer and Wawrinka 7-5 in the breaker on 18 to take that one to a decider.
17.47GAME, SET AND MATCH! Kerber pulls off a mirror-image set by beating Venus 7-5 in the breaker to book her place in the last eight, where she faces the number one seed Vicky Azarenka.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 *1-3 MurrayMurray and Baghdatis both pull off strong holds so it's still the Scot with the advantage in the decider.
17.43After their easy first set, Federer and Wawrinka aren't having it all their own way on 18 as they move into a second-set tie-break against Erlich and Ram.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 *0-2 MurrayMurray has now won eight games in a row as he holds to-love. Has Baghdatis got anything left to give?
17.39Venus and Kerber are yet again into a tie-break in the second set, the latter came out on top in the first, remember.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 0-1* MurrayBREAK! Murray only needs one as Baghdatis can't get over the tape with a cross-court forehand. Perfect start to the third and final set for the Brit.
17.37Baghdatis having a bit of a shocker now, three break points Murray...
Baghdatis 6-4 1-6 *0-0 MurraySET! Murray is at 40-15 and Baghdatis returns wide to give Murray the set. A much improved half an hour from the Scot, who'll look to continue his dominance in the decider.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-5* MurrayDOUBLE BREAK! Murray moves 5-1 ahead in the second as he again breaks Baghdatis's serve.
17.30Just starting on No. 1 Court is arguably the pick of the third-round women's singles matches as Germany's Sabine Lisicki faces Maria Sharapova of Russia. Sharapova will be favourite but she lost to Lisicki at Wimbledon earlier in the summer. (Here at Sports Mole, we have rather taken a fancy to Miss Lisicki!)
Baghdatis 6-4 *1-4 MurrayMuzza backs up the break by holding serve to-30 and it looks we'll be going into a decider on Centre.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-3* MurrayBREAK! And the Scot does take a two-game lead in the second set as Baghdatis buckles by netting an easy short ball.
17.21Murray has a break point on Centre...
17.20BREAK! Kerber has broken back against Venus on No. 2, reeling off three games in a row to move 4-3 ahead in the second.
Baghdatis 6-4 *1-2 MurrayMurray's making it look oh so easy on serve as he again holds to-love, this time claiming the game with a stubby backhand winner up-the-line.
Baghdatis 6-4 1-1* MurrayBaghdatis holds serve himself to continue his impressive performance on Centre.
17.11SET! Defending double's gold medallists Federer and Wawrinka have raced to the first set 6-1 on 18.
17.07GAME, SET AND MATCH! And just like that, women's top seed Azarenka is in the quarter-finals. Petrova was 4-3 ahead a moment ago but two quick breaks have seen the Belarusian progress to the last eight, where she'll face the winner of the Venus-Kerber match.
Baghdatis 6-4 *0-1 MurrayConfident start from Murray in the second as he holds to-love.
17.05BREAKS! Azarenka has broken back in the second set against Petrova, while Venus takes an early advantage at 3-1 in the second against Kerber.
Baghdatis 6-4 0-0* MurraySET! Baghdatis starts the game nervously by netting an easy forehand and soon we're at 30-30. The Cypriot produces a rapid ace down-the-T before Murray pushes a backhand return long to give away the set.
Baghdatis *5-4 MurrayThat's the biggest roar of the match from the crowd as Murray holds. Baghdatis had two set points at 15-40 but they were both saved by the Brit. Pressure on Baghdatis to serve it out now.
Baghdatis 5-3* MurrayMurray's now serving to stay in the set as Baghdatis does hold. Big game for the Cypriot.
16.53Baghdatis now has another chance to move 5-3 ahead as he earns advantage with a forehand winner.
16.52SET! Kerber wins through 7-5 in the tie-break against Venus to take a one-set lead on No. 2.
16.50Defending men's doubles medallists Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka from Switzerland have just begun their second-round match against the Israeli pair of Erlich and Ram. I'll keep you posted, don't you worry.
16.49Over on No. 2, Vicky Azarenka is really struggling against Nadia Petrova. The world number one took the opener (just) on a tie-break and is now a break down at 2-4 in the second.
16.49Murray pulls a backhand pass wide and it's back to deuce.
16.48Brilliantly done from Murray as he backs up a rocket forehand with a deft volley. Break point...
16.47Murray has saved two game points for Baghdatis and we're at deuce...
16.46Venus has broken back against Kerber and is now leading in a first-set tie-break.
Baghdatis *4-3 MurrayBREAK! The 27-year-old takes the first one as he yet again comes out on top in a lengthy baseline rally. Murray making far too many errors here.
16.41Three break points for Baghdatis as Murray frames high into the sky...
16.39BREAK! Kerber breaks the Venus serve at 5-5 and will now serve for the set at 6-5.
Baghdatis 3-3* Murray"Game Baghdatis" as the Cypriot recovers from 15-30 to hold.

Baghdatis 2-2* MurrayBREAK BACK! Baghdatis wasn't ahead for long. Murray gets back on level terms as the Cypriot misfires at 30-40.
Baghdatis *2-1 MurrayMuch better from Muzza as he holds serve to put the pressure right back on Baghdatis.
Baghdatis 2-0* MurrayMurray can't break back as Baghdatis holds strong on serve. This is a great start from the Cypriot.
Baghdatis *1-0 MurrayBREAK! Ooh err. The Centre Court crowd weren't expecting that. Baghdatis earns a break point at 30-40 and finishes off a long rally with an angled inside-out forehand.
16.19GAME, SET AND MATCH! Kvitova takes the second set 6-0 against Pennetta to book her place in the last eight against Kirilenko.
16.16Ok, we're now switching our focus to Great Britain's Andy Murray, who has just begun his third-round clash with Cyprus's Marcos Baghdatis.
16.14SET! Azarenka is pushed all the way in the opening set against Petrova but she comes through 8-6 in the tie-break.
16.10GAME, SET AND MATCH! Tsonga has shown so signs of tiredness over on 18 as he completes a 7-6[5] 6-4 win over Lopez. Next up is Djokovic for the Frenchman.
16.07Venus Williams is just beginning her third-round match against German seventh seed Angelique Kerber on No. 2 Court.
16.05BREAK! Tsonga has the advantage in the second against Lopez and is now serving at 4-3.
15.59Djokovic wins through in relatively easy fashion in the end. Hewitt did amazingly to stave off defeat for as long as he did, however, and will think he could have pulled off a shock with a couple of lucky breaks here and there.
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 1-6 DjokovicGAME, SET AND MATCH!
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 1-5* DjokovicDOUBLE BREAK! Hewitt saves one break point on his serve before dumping a backhand into the middle of the net. Djokovic now to serve for the match.

Hewitt 4-6 5-7 *1-4 DjokovicDjokovic consolidates the break to-15, finishing the game off with a delightful drop shot. The Serb looks good for victory now.
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 1-3* DjokovicBREAK! Djokovic earns two break points on the Hewitt serve. The first is saved as the Aussie watches a lob long before he hands the advantage to the Serb with a wide forehand.
15.46SET! 2011 Wimbledon champion Kvitova has taken the first 6-3 against Pennetta on 14.
15.44GAME, SET AND MATCH! Kirilenko 7-6[5] 6-3 Goerges
15.41SET! Tsonga has won through 7-5 in a first-set tie-break against Lopez.
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 1-1* DjokovicHewitt begins how he would have wanted in the decider by wrapping up a hold with an accurate backhand up-the-line.
15.37GAME, SET AND MATCH! Del Potro is into the last eight as he completes a 6-1 4-6 6-3 win over Simon. Read our report here.
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 *0-1 DjokovicDjokovic delivers another impressive service game to move ahead in the third.
15.32Hewitt will be really annoyed to lose his serve after getting back into that set. Has the Aussie got anything left for the third?
Hewitt 4-6 5-7 0-0* DjokovicSET! Hewitt's second serve is weak and Djokovic immediately takes control of the rally before whipping a cross-court forehand into the space to take the set.
15.27The Serb is slip-sliding all over the baseline as Hewitt saves the first.
15.27Two set points for Djokovic...
Hewitt 4-6 *5-6 DjokovicDjokovic does what he should have done in his last service game by holding to-love.
15.23Two women's matches have just got underway on Courts No. 1 and 14. On No. 1, world number one Victoria Azarenka is up against 16th seed Nadia Petrova, while on 14 Petra Kvitova faces Flavia Pennetta.
Hewitt 4-6 5-5* DjokovicDjokovic pushes a backhand past the baseline and Hewitt holds to level up the set.
15.19Hewitt is regularly going back behind Djokovic but it doesn't pay off this time as the Serb slips and is presented with another chance to pass, which he takes. 30-30.
15.17BREAK! Del Potro has the early initiative in the deciding set against Simon and is now 4-1 ahead.
Hewitt 4-6 *4-5 DjokovicBREAK! Djokovic comes to net and sends a forehand volley back Hewitt's way, with the Aussie finishing it off with a backhand pass.
15.15Break-back point Hewitt as he finds the corner with a backhand.
Hewitt 6-4 3-5* DjokovicBREAK! And the Serb takes it! That's his first break point of the match and what a way to do it. He patiently manoeuvres Hewitt round the court before the Aussie can only push a backhand wide. Djoko turns to his corner and roars in delight. He'll now serve for the set.
15.10Break point Djokovic at 30-40...
Hewitt 6-4 *3-4 DjokovicBoth men are looking impregnable on serve at the moment as we continue in the set.
15.06GAME, SET AND MATCH! Almagro books his place in the quarter-finals with a 7-5 6-3 win over Steve Darcis, who's had a nice run at the Games but it's all over. Almagro will face either Andy Murray or Marcos Baghdatis in the last eight.
15.04SET! Simon holds to take his match with Del Potro into a deciding third set.
15.02Speaking of Tsonga, he's just begun his third-round match with Spain's Feliciano Lopez.
Hewitt 6-4 *2-3 DjokovicDjokovic is again taken to 30-30 but he comes through to regain his narrow lead in the set. Hewitt again must hold.
14.57After Tsonga and Raonic set the record for the longest match in Olympic history yesterday, that record has already gone as this doubles match went on for 23 minutes longer at 4:20.
14.55GAME, SET AND MATCH! Bit of a shock here as it's the Brazilians who have won through 24-22 in the final set against the Czechs Berdych and Stepanek.
14.54Kirilenko and Goerges are into a first-set tie-break over on 12.
Hewitt 6-4 *1-2 DjokovicThat doesn't phase our boy Novak, though. He produces a stunning display of serving to hold to-love. Back to you, Lleyton.
Hewitt 6-4 1-1* DjokovicHewitt's serving has been so good today but he needs an on-the-reach backhand pass to win through that game. Shot!
14.51GAME, SET AND MATCH! And that's that. Federer holds to-love to claim a 7-5 6-3 win over Uzbekistan's Istomin. The number one seed is through and will next face either John Isner of the US or Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic.
14.50Federer's about to serve for the match over on No. 1.
Hewitt 6-4 *0-1 DjokovicDjokovic starts the second in much more composed fashion by holding to-15. Can Hewitt keep his level of performance up?
14.46BREAK! Simon has hit back in the second set against Del Potro and is now serving at 4-3.
14.44GAME, SET AND MATCH! Soon-to-retire Kim Clijsters is through to the quarter-finals as she sees off Serbian beauty Ana Ivanovic 6-3 6-4 on 18. Good stuff from the Belgian and she'll look to continue her run at the Games against either Maria Sharapova or Sabine Lisicki. Read our rundown by clicking here.
14.43Djokovic produces an amazing return to the baseline before approaching with a forehand. Lleyton's having none of it though and whips a forehand of his own down-the-line to the delight of Centre Court.
Hewitt 6-4 0-0* DjokovicSET! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant from the man from Down Under.
14.42Three set points for the 31-year-old as Djokovic volleys wide.
14.40The Aussie has always been a steely character and he looks so fired-up for this one.
Hewitt *5-4 DjokovicBREAK! This time he takes it as Djokovic nets a backhand slice after a patient rally from both men.
14.37Here comes the Aussie yet again as his deep forehand to the corner can't be returned by Djoko.
14.37Hewitt slaps the strings of his racket as he dumps a second-serve return into the net. Back to deuce.
14.36Another chances as NoDjo double-faults...
14.35Saved as the Aussie slips on the baseline.
14.35Break point Hewitt...
14.34SET! After holding to-love, Almagro this time does convert a set point on the Darcis serve to take the first 7-5.
Hewitt 4-4* DjokovicHewitt opens up a 40-0 lead but Djokovic wins the next two thanks to a pair of outrageous forehands, one cross-court, one up-the-line. Hewitt takes the game though as he wins through a tussle at the net. "COME ON!" roars the Aussie as Djokovic's lob drops out.
14.29BREAK! Federer wants a place in the quarter-finals, and he wants it now! The Swiss breaks Istomin's serve at the first time of asking in the second set and surely won't throw away the advantage this time as he did early on in the first.
14.28BREAK! Clijsters is doing a stellar job over on 18 against Ivanovic. The Belgian veteran is now a set and a break up at 6-3 3-1*.
Hewitt *3-4 DjokovicHewitt produces a quality backhand at 15-40 down but Djokovic wraps up the game on the next. The Aussie has new balls in-hand to serve with.
14.25One match that has just begun that was started yesterday is the men's doubles encounter between the Czech pair of Berdych and Stepanek and Melo and Soares of Brazil. They're locked at 19-19 in games in the third set!
14.25It's saved by the Belgian.
14.24Almagro has a set point against Darcis on 14...
Hewitt 3-3* DjokovicBoth men hold with ease and we're back with Nole (Djokovic's nickname) serving.
14.19SET! The Swiss can't take the first but he is presented with another opportunity and this time he makes it count. Istomin will be annoyed that he threw away the chance of a tie-break after getting back into that set.
14.18Federer has a set point on No. 1...
14.18Hewitt punches the air after a well-constructed rally ends with a lovely forehand. 30-30 and a sniff for the Aussie.
Hewitt 2-2* DjokovicHewitt is impressive in moving to 40-0 before Djokovic fires a backhand winner down-the-line. The Serb can't get back in the game though as Hewitt aces.
14.14SET! Argentina's Del Potro looks in a hurry as he makes a third break against Simon to complete a 6-1 success in the first set in just half an hour.
14.13Federer is taken to deuce by Istomin at 5-5 but he holds and is now within a game of the set.
Hewitt *1-2 DjokovicThat'll do for NoDjo. He swats away a short Hewitt return to regain his one-game advantage early on in the match. All other matches on the outside courts have again resumed, by the way.
Hewitt 1-1* DjokovicHewitt gets us underway at 40-30 and he holds. 1-1.
14.07Sounds good to me! Here's the latest tweet from @WimboGroundsman: "Court ready again hoping the rest of the day will stay dry and we can play on for the day."
14.06Djokovic and Hewitt are now exchanging groundstrokes as the music continues to blare out over Centre Court. Quite surreal hearing Calvin Harris at the great arena.
14.02On No.1, Federer was an early break up and leading 3-0 before Uzbek Istomin showed some mettle. Tough one over there for Roger.
14.01Here's another reminder of the current scores as play is due to resume in the next 10 minutes or so: Federer *5-5 Istomin, Darcis *3-4 Almagro, Simon 1-4* Del Potro, Hewitt *0-1 Djokovic, Clijsters 6-3 Ivanovic, Kirilenko 1-2* Goerges
13.59To be fair to them though, the forecast does look much more settled for the remainder of the day. However, this is England and more importantly Wimbledon so don't take my word for that.
13.56The officials seem to be ever the optimists as they're keeping the Centre Court roof open despite this afternoon's intermittent precipitation.
13.54We'll still have a little wait before play resumes as the players yet again are due to warm-up.
13.50Thank you, Jack and prepare to be dazzled you lot! And here's my first trick as a good-luck charm because the covers are again coming off at SW19.
13.46Anyway, I'm going to be all British and wait for this downpour to stop with a cup of tea. In the meantime you'll be in the safe hands of my colleague Pascal Lemesre who will dazzle you with his wit and charm. See you later!
13.44Here are the scores from those before the rain hit: Federer *5-5 Istomin, Darcis *3-4 Almagro, Simon 1-4* Del Potro, Hewitt *0-1 Djokovic, Clijsters 6-3 Ivanovic, Kirilenko 1-2* Goerges
13.42Play is slowly being suspended on the outside courts but I can tell you that Kim Clijsters has just taken the opening set 6-3 in her third-round match with Ana Ivanovic. However, they have now had to go off because of the weather. Meanwhile, Federer vs. Istomin, Darcis vs. Almagro, Simon vs. Del Potro and Kirilenko vs. Goerges have all been halted for the time being.
13.40That's annyoing to say the least. Of course if the roof is coming back on that means that we'll have a further delay of 30 minutes as they get the air right and all that jazz.
13.38Oh dear. The rain is coming down hard now. It's all a bit of a shambles because they opened the roof before this match started. We'll put that one down as a misjudgement. The covers are on and I should imagine that the roof will be put back over. We'll let you know what's happening.
13.33Hewitt instantly showing plenty of fight but Djokovic holds to go 1-0 in front.
13.31If Hewitt is going to pull off a major upset today he'll need to call on all of his ultra-competitiveness. Here we go then, Djokovic to serve.
13.28Getting out this dusty old book of stats, it doesn't make good reading for Hewitt against Djokovic. The Aussie has won just one of his seven matches against the Serb.
13.25Djokovic got here with wins against Fabio Fognin of Italy and American Andy Roddick respectively, while Hewitt beat Sergiy Strakhovsky of Ukraine before taking the impressive scalp of Croatian third seed Marin Cilic. There's life in the old dog yet.
13.23The two men walk out onto the famous court to a rousing reception from the fans. Great to hear.
13.22Unfortunatel for Lleyton Hewitt he is coming up against world number two Novak Djokovic, a man who is the strong favourite.
13.20And it looks like they're opening the roof on Centre Court as the rain ceases outside.
13.18There's an element of dewy-eyed sentimentality to this next match as it could be the last time we see Lleyton Hewitt at the All England Club. The veteran Aussie has dodged questions about his future in recent months but many believe that he could soon call time on what has been a fantastic career. He won the title here at SW19 back in 2002 which added to his US Open triumph the year before.
13.11A final note on the Williams match - she'll be playing either Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia or Danish eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki in the quarter-finals. That match is up on Centre Court a little later.
13.10Anyway, we're going to be staying on Centre Court as second seed Novak Djokovic is next up against Lleyton Hewitt.
13.09For the record, that match took 51 minutes.
13.08That was quite incredible from Williams. From start to finish she was in complete control of that match, looking hell-bent on adding that singles gold to her illustrious CV. Zvonareva walks off quickly with tears in her eyes, while Williams stops to sign autographs. The American hit 24 aces and made zero double faults. Flawless.
13.06GAME, SET AND MATCH! Williams 6-1 6-0 Zvonareva
13.04Zvonareva has been poor but Williams has also been sensational here. It's hard to think of anyone in the women's game who could stop the American on a day like today.
13.03Another ace for Williams sees her hold to make it 5-0. She's just a game away from the quarter-finals.
13.01In other news Roger Federer has just started his third-round match with Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan on Court 1. Hurrah!
13.00BREAK! The Russian will be even more angry now as Williams hits a clean winner down the line to win her eighth game in a row. It's 4-0.
12.59Zvonareva saves two break points and we're at deuce. She's still looking angry.
12.56Zvonareva sits down and puts her towel right over her head, blocking out everything. Let's not forget that she's world number 13, though she certainly isn't playing like it.
12.54Boom. Another ace from Williams consolidates the break. She leads 3-0.
12.53The Russian is seeing the red mist now - she slams her racket into the grass following an error.
12.52BREAK! Stunning from Williams. An absoluute rocket of a backhand gives her a break and she's firmly in control of this one. Meanwhile, Zvonareva looks like she's falling to pieces.
12.49The covers are coming off the outside courts...
12.48Bang. Another ace from Williams just catches the line after a challenge from Zvonareva. The American leads this second set 1-0.
12.46Williams then hits an ace and we're at deuce. Great recovery under pressure.
12.46Not the first. She hits her forehand long.
12.45Now then, Zvonareva suddenly has two break points. Can she take them?
12.43Williams will open the serving in this second set. Zvonareva needs to do something and fast because this one looks to be going only one way and it ain't Russia's.
12.41This is all too simple for Williams. She breaks again thanks to two powerful forehands that Zvonareva gets nowhere near and has the first set 6-1.
12.40SET! Williams 6-1 Zvonareva
12.38Zvonareva was 40-0 on her serve but Williams brings it to deuce.
12.34Williams hits three more sizzling aces to go 5-1 up in this opening set. She's absolutely pulverizing Zvonareva out there.
12.31BREAK! It's poor from Zvonareva as she puts a simple backhand into the net. Williams leads 4-1 and it's looking ominous to say the least.
12.30Ooh, Zvonareva double faults and it's 30-30. She's not happy one bit. And now Williams brings up a break point.
12.28There's another couple of aces from Williams as she holds again. Don't be fooled though - she's as dynamic as they come with her groundstrokes.
12.24That's more like it from Zvonareva. A crisp forehand winner gets her off the mark with a hold. Williams leads 2-1.
12.21We're hearing that the covers came off the outside courts...but are now back on. We'll let you know first when play resumes.
12.20Williams consolidates the break with a hold of serve which includes three aces. The American set a new record at the All England Club last month when she whacked 102 of them on her way to a fifth title. It really is a sight to behold.
12.16BREAK! It's a dream start for Williams as she instantly overpowers Zvonareva to break. A worrying sign of things to come for the Russian?
12.14Play is about to get underway and it'll be Vera Zvonareva to serve...
12.11Somewhat amusingly, Zvonareva defeated Francesca Schiavone in the last round, extending her record over the Italian to 11-0. I say amusingly, but obviously not for Schiavone.
12.08The last time they faced off was at Eastbourne last year where Zvonareva recorded a 3-6 7-6 7-5 triumph.
12.07Right, the head-to-head: Williams, who is the fourth seed in this competition, has won six of her previous nine encounters with Zvonareva.
12.04Anyway, back to tennis. The rain is still coming down at SW19 so we'll be heading under the cosy, dry roof of Centre Court to follow Serena Williams's third-round encounter with Russia's Vera Zvonareva.
12.02Sorry to veer away from the tennis there for a moment but WE HAVE OUR FIRST GOLD MEDAL OF THE GAMES! *cracks open champagne, hits self in eye with cork*
11.58BREAKING NEWS: Heather Stanning and Helen Glover win Britain's first gold medal of the 2012 Olympic Games in the rowing
11.52As the rain continues to drizzle down at Wimbledon we may be turning our attention to Centre Court and its wonderful roof. American fourth seed Serena Williams is due to play Vera Zvonareva of Russia at 12. At least we'll have some action.
11.47Laura Robson and Andy Murray will also be representing Great Britain in the mixed doubles later on as they meet Lucie Hradecka and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic.
11.46Meanwhile, Court 1 features Roger Federer vs. Denis Istomin, Victoria Azarenka vs. Nadia Petrova and Sabine Lisicki's match with Maria Sharapova (that should be a good 'un).
11.44Centre Court sees the dogged Aussie Lleyton Hewitt come up against Novak Djokovic, while Andy Murray is also in action against the flamboyant Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus. Serena Williams vs. Vera Zvonareva and Caroline Wozniacki vs. Daniela Hantuchova are also scheduled third round matches.
11.41We'll take this opportunity to pick out some of the more mouth-watering ties that will hopefully get played today...
11.38Would you believe it. We're just minutes away from play but the groundstaff are out, pulling the covers over the courts. It looks like only a light drizzle so let's hope that the delay is not too long.
11.33Both of these women are taking part in their first Olympics too so it's new territory for both.
11.32The last of Clijsters' six wins over Ivanovic came at the Brisbane International back in March with a 6-1 1-6 6-3 victory.
11.29If you're interested in checking out the order of play for the rest of the day then click here. I was up late putting that together.
11.27Both of these women are former world number ones, but Clijsters record of four Grand Slams eclipses Ivanovic's sloitary triumph.
11.23Thumbing through the history books it looks good for Clijsters, who has won all six of her previous meetings with the Serb.
11.21Our first match, starting in a little over 10 minutes time, will be Belgium's Kim Clijsters taking on Serbian 11th seed Ana Ivanovic.
11.19It's slightly overcast at SW19 but we're hoping that play will start on the outside courts at 11.30, as planned.
11.14Hello there! And how are you? It's another jam-packed day at the All England Club as the Olympic tennis hots up. All of the big names are in third-round action today, including 'our Andy', while we'll get to witness mixed doubles at a Games for the first time since 1924.
