Monte Carlo Masters sixth seed David Ferrer has booked his place in the quarter-finals of this year's tournament with a comfortable 6-4 6-2 win over Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov.
It did not start well for the Spaniard, however. After losing the opening game comfortably he was broken in a long battle in the second game to go 2-0 behind.
Ferrer broke right back, which started a fine run of form that saw him win five straight games to move 5-2 ahead, before wrapping up the first set 6-2.
After the tough opening set the second was much more comfortable for the Spaniard, as he continued his excellent play with a break in the third game of the second for 2-1.
He held serve crucially at 2-2, fighting off three break points, before upping the gears again and seeing off the final four games comfortably to book his spot in the last eight.
