David Ferrer has breezed into the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a straight-sets triumph over Jeremy Chardy.
The Spaniard, who is seeded sixth, wore his French opponent down during the opening set before closing it out 6-3.
It was more routine for Ferrer in the second as three breaks of serve saw him emphatically seal the win 6-3 6-0 with just over an hour on the clock.
Ferrer will now take on 12th seed Grigor Dimitrov or Spanish qualifier Albert Ramos for a place in the quarter-finals.
