Former world number one Dinara Safina has denied reports that claimed that she had retired from professional tennis.

Her brother, and former US Open champion, Marat Safin broke the news yesterday that a back injury had forced his sister to quit the game.

However, the 25-year-old has now insisted that she is yet to make a decision over her future.

"My sweet tweeties, I didn't make any official announcement," she wrote on Twitter.

"Give me please some time and I'll let you all know...Right now I want to take care of my back.

"On Tuesday I'm having a treatment...Once I decide something you'll be the first to know, I promise!! Love you all."

Safina has claimed 12 women's singles titles during her career.
