World number two Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he is fit enough to play at the upcoming Madrid Open following a wrist problem.
The Serbian feared that he could miss a large part of the season after experiencing pain during his semi-final defeat to Roger Federer at the Monte Carlo Masters on April 19.
However, Djokovic has since revealed that he has been given the all-clear by doctors to return to the court next month.
"Fortunately, the situation with the injury is better than it first seemed," he said.
"Doctors assured me that I will be ready for Madrid, then Rome and Roland Garros, just as it has been planned. However, I need to continue with the recovery process and full medical treatments. It means I will have to take a short break in order to recover as soon as possible."
The Madrid Open gets underway on May 4.
