Australian tennis star Leyton Hewitt has dismissed talk that he is retiring as "a load of rubbish".
The former world number one has been troubled by a toe injury in recent years but has insisted that he is not considering retirement.
"Retirement talks have been around since I was 26, because I was a ten-year veteran by then, so for me it is just a load of rubbish," he said.
"I go out there and do my job and I am fortunate that I am in a sport that I can choose when I want to stop when the time is right."
The former Wimbledon and US Open champion will begin his campaign by representing Australia at the ITF's Hopman Cup event in Perth.
