Angelique Kerber has pulled out of the ongoing Aegon International in Eastbourne.
The sixth seed, who won the Aegon Classic in Birmingham at the weekend, had been due to get her campaign underway against American Coco Vandeweghe later today.
However, the German confirmed earlier this afternoon that she has been forced to withdraw with a "viral illness".
"So sorry that I have to pull out from Eastbourne with a viral illness, hope to be back next year," she wrote on Twitter.
The victory in Birmingham sealed the first title that Kerber had ever won on grass.
