Andy Murray has acknowledged that he is delighted to get his first victory on the board after undergoing hip surgery in January.

The former world number one is currently competing at Eastbourne and was handed a first-round clash with fellow three-time Major champion Stanislas Wawrinka, but Murray prevailed by a 6-1 6-3 scoreline in just 77 minutes.

Murray still has reservations about featuring at Wimbledon - which starts next week - but the Scot admits that he is "very happy" to have come through a high-profile contest.

After the match, the 31-year-old said: "I'm very happy to get the win. I thought I played well in the first set, the second set was a bit patchy but when you've not played for the best part of year, trying to close out the match against a player like Stan was tough, but I was happy to get it done."

Murray will now play British number one Kyle Edmund in the last 16.
