Andy Roddick says that he is focused on regaining his fitness and not on winning Wimbledon.

Andy Roddick has said that he is only focused on getting fit again and not on winning Wimbledon.

The 2003 US Open champion was forced to retire from his Australian Open third-round clash with Lleyton Hewitt after injuring his ankle.

Roddick has now dropped behind Mardy Fish and John Isner in the US pecking order, but insists that he can once again become the American number one.

"I wasn't going to be there for 20 years — it's a hard thing to do," the 29-year-old told USA Today. "I'm fine with it.

"Do I want to get back there? Yeah. Do I feel like I can? Yes.

"But again, it's going to be a process. It's not something that's going to happen in two weeks."

The American has reached the final of Wimbledon three times, losing on each occasion to Roger Federer.
